Bacolicio.us was a simple, beautiful website that did exactly one thing: it put a strip of bacon on top of any website you gave it. That's it. That's all it did. A fun simple gag from a simpler internet.

The site worked by loading your target URL in an <iframe> with an absolutely positioned <div id="overlay"> containing a bacon PNG from bacolicious.s3.amazonaws.com — positioned at top:15%; left:10%. Beautiful in its simplicity.

It went live around December 2008, reached peak fame in 2009 (covered by Bacon Today), and by 2015 had gone 404. The domain now redirects to junk. But the Wayback Machine remembers.

Its spirit lives on at The AI Baloney Manifesto — click "NO BACON" in the footer to overlay meat on any page, or use the "Try it on any site →" link to embed any URL in a postcard frame with bacon on top, just like the original.
